Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how GApolitics LLC (“GApolitics LLC,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and protects information from visitors to stg-gapolitics-staging.kinsta.cloud (the “Site”). GApolitics is published by GApolitics LLC.

Information we collect

We collect information in a few limited ways:

  • Voter Guide sign-up (paused). The Voter Guide is paused until the next election cycle and no longer collects sign-ups. If you signed up for it before it was paused, we hold the name, home address and email address you gave, and your choice about receiving GApolitics Report by email.
  • Newsletter sign-up. When you sign up for GApolitics Report, we collect your email address and your street address, and the time you signed up. We use the address to personalize the newsletter, as described below. We use subscriber information only for GApolitics’ own newsletter and reader services, and we never sell or share it.
  • Tips and submissions. We collect anything you email to News@GApolitics.com, such as tips or campaign mail pieces, including whatever contact information you choose to provide. Source identities are not disclosed without consent, as described in our Editorial Standards.
  • Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and site operation. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers; if that changes, this policy will be updated to name the specific service and what it collects before it goes live.
  • Two sign-up cookies. If you signed up for the Voter Guide, the site set a cookie, gp_vg_signed_up, that hid the Voter Guide banner on your browser. After you sign up for GApolitics Report, it sets a second cookie, gp_nl_signed_up, that hides the newsletter sign-up banner.

Voter Guide (paused) and sign-ups

The Voter Guide is paused until the next election cycle, and the site no longer collects Voter Guide sign-ups. If you signed up before it was paused, we hold your name, home address and email address, and your choice about whether you wanted GApolitics Report by email. To identify the districts in which you live, we check the address you give against the U.S. Census Bureau’s public geocoding service, which receives only that address and returns your district numbers; we do not share your name or email address with it. We store this information in our Google Workspace account, and only GApolitics LLC staff can see it. We do not sell or rent your name, address or email address. We keep your information until you ask us to remove it. To remove it, write to News@GApolitics.com from the address you signed up with, and we will delete it from our active records within 30 days. Copies in backups or version history may remain for a limited period. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time.

GApolitics Report and your address

When you sign up for GApolitics Report, we collect your email address and your street address. We use your address to personalize the newsletter: we look up your congressional, state legislative and county districts and your city with the U.S. Census Bureau’s public address lookup, and we use the result to include the news that matches where you live. We keep your street address with your subscription so we can keep your newsletter matched to where you live. We use subscriber information only for GApolitics’ own newsletter and reader services. We never sell or share it. We delete it when you ask us to: write to News@GApolitics.com from the address you signed up with, and we will delete it from our active records within 30 days. Unsubscribing with the link in any issue stops the emails. Copies in backups or version history may remain for a limited period.

How we use information

We use the information above to operate the site, deliver the newsletter to subscribers, respond to tips and inquiries, and maintain site security. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

The site may use essential cookies required for basic functionality (such as remembering a logged-in session for site administrators). It sets two other cookies, gp_vg_signed_up (set when someone signed up for the Voter Guide, before it was paused) and gp_nl_signed_up (after you sign up for GApolitics Report), only to hide the matching sign-up banner on your browser. It does not currently set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children’s privacy

GApolitics LLC is a general-audience news site not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue. To ask what information we hold about you or to request its deletion, contact us using the email below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes will be noted with an updated “last updated” date above.
